San Fulgencio is two places in one. Inland sits the old Vega Baja village, white and unhurried, with its Sunday market and a square where nothing much happens on purpose. Five kilometres east lies La Marina, one of the most international urbanisations on the Costa Blanca, where Dutch, Belgian, British and Scandinavian residents have been settling for decades.

The draw of La Marina is what surrounds it. The urbanisation backs onto the pine forest of Pinada de Guardamar and runs down towards the dunes and the long open beach of La Marina — protected coast, no high-rise, and a Blue Flag most seasons. Everything works year-round rather than for eight weeks in summer: supermarkets, medical centre, bars that stay open in January.
Housing here is mostly detached and semi-detached villas on generous plots, many with a private pool, alongside ground-floor bungalows with a terrace and apartments in the village itself. Prices sit well below Guardamar and Torrevieja for comparable space, which is precisely why buyers who have priced up the coast end up looking here.
Guardamar del Segura and its beaches are ten minutes away, Alicante airport around twenty-five. The N-332 and the AP-7 both run close, so the coast north to Santa Pola and south to Torrevieja is easy to reach without living on top of it.
